Off The Grid - Can This Game Take Crypto Gaming Mainstream?

Hey everyone! I recently came across a new game called Off The Grid – it’s a cyberpunk-themed shooter trying to break the "crypto games" stereotype by focusing on gameplay first. Instead of making blockchain tech front-and-center, the developers have teamed up with popular streamers like Ninja to help reach a broader audience.

The game has a PvP/PvE setup with a 60-hour campaign, plus NFTs for in-game items that can be traded. And interestingly, players don’t have to use the blockchain features if they don’t want to.

It’s being hyped as the game that might bring crypto gaming mainstream, but some are skeptical due to early performance issues and the usual backlash against NFTs.

What do you all think? Is this the game that could bridge the gap between mainstream gaming and blockchain? Or is the world just not ready for crypto in gaming yet?

I'm actually really interested in Off The Grid! The idea of using blockchain only if you want to sounds great. It keeps it accessible for traditional gamers while giving crypto enthusiasts something extra.

I tried the game and it's decent but still has a few bugs. The optional crypto aspect is clever, but they need to get those frame rates fixed if they want to compete with mainstream titles.

Honestly, games with NFTs are an instant turn-off for me. Too often, they’re just cash grabs. But I'll keep an open mind since they seem to be handling it differently.

The collab with Ninja and others is a smart move. People trust streamers, and seeing them endorse the game might get more players on board.

This game sounds promising but $30 million raised, and still laggy? Sounds like they need to focus on optimization instead of blockchain tech for now.

Never been a fan of crypto games, but if the gameplay is solid and they keep the crypto side optional, I might give it a go!

Love seeing games like this pushing boundaries. Even if Off The Grid doesn’t become mainstream, it's paving the way for other games to try new things with blockchain.

Nah, crypto gaming still has too much of a hill to climb. People aren’t ready to trust it yet, especially with NFTs.

Excited to try it. The fact that they partnered with Ninja is HUGE! That reach is priceless for any new game.

I’ve seen the backlash against crypto games, but this might be a step in the right direction. Just hope it doesn’t end up being too “pay-to-win” with NFTs.

I'd be interested to see if they can keep this “optional crypto” approach long-term. The market seems so volatile, and games tend to go all-in on these models.

It's cool that they’re experimenting with NFTs in a non-intrusive way, but ultimately, will it offer anything truly unique that other shooters don’t?

Played it last night! It’s actually fun, but not groundbreaking yet. I'll wait for the full release before passing judgment.

As long as they keep the crypto elements out of the way of traditional gamers, it could do well. Mixing PvP and PvE sounds fun too.

This might just be another overhyped game that ends up disappointing. How many "crypto games" have promised the world already?

Sounds like a good start, but they’ll need to compete hard to get gamers’ attention, especially with AAA titles in the market.

Haven't tried it yet, but keeping the blockchain in the background sounds smart. This could appeal to people who hate the “in-your-face” crypto stuff.

It’s cool that they're trying something different, but I worry it’ll attract mostly NFT traders rather than actual gamers.

Blockchain in gaming? Not sold on the idea yet, but if they keep it low-key, I might check it out. The story sounds interesting at least.
