EU markets regulator urges for tighter crypto security requirements

This feels like a power play from traditional financial institutions. The tighter regulations are likely to benefit them, as they have the capital and infrastructure to comply, while smaller crypto companies might struggle. It wouldn’t surprise me if we see more collaboration between traditional finance and crypto, but under terms that favor the incumbents.

Stricter cybersecurity requirements from the ESMA could significantly enhance the security of crypto companies in the EU. However, there's a concern that these regulations might also hinder innovation and growth in the rapidly evolving cryptocurrency sector.

I think tighter security requirements in crypto could be a good thing, especially with all the hacks and scams we’ve seen. If the EU sets higher standards, it might boost trust in the market. I’m all for anything that makes crypto safer for everyone!
