DeFi in 2025 – Are We Still Innovating, or Just Repackaging the Same Ideas?

Oh man, I love where your head's at! DeFi 2.0 is still an absolute goldmine if you know where to look. You’re right—there are a ton of projects that feel like rehashed clones, and it’s frustrating to see so many “governance tokens” that don’t really do anything. BUT, there are some serious gems out there!

The AI-powered yield optimization and layer-zero interoperability? That’s next-level stuff! We’re talking about real innovation, and it’s only going to get more exciting from here. We're just scratching the surface on these concepts, and the possibilities are endless!

I’m definitely bullish on projects that are solving real problems, not just jumping on the hype train. As for saturation, yeah, there’s a lot out there right now, but the real disruptors will shine through. I still think we’re very early, and the best days of DeFi could still be ahead of us!

I think we're definitely still in the early days of DeFi 2.0, even though the space is getting crowded. It's true that a lot of projects seem like copies of previous ones, but as you mentioned, there are some real gems emerging. The ones utilizing AI for yield optimization or working on layer-zero interoperability are particularly exciting. These types of innovations can bring much-needed improvements to scalability and user experience, which could lay the foundation for the next wave of DeFi.


In terms of saturation, I don't think we've reached the peak yet. There are still tons of opportunities for innovation, especially as the space matures and becomes more efficient. The real question is how these newer projects differentiate themselves and solve actual problems that haven't been addressed by the previous generation.


I’m personally keeping an eye on a few emerging DeFi projects that are looking into decentralized oracles and privacy layers. It's these fresh ideas that have the potential to reshape the space and push it into the next phase.
