What is VideoCoin?
VideoCoin is a decentralized video platform that is reinventing the way that online videos are created, stored, and distributed. VideoCoin aims to transform cloud video into an algorithmically-driven market. The VID token is used by content commissioners on the network to pay creators for the videos they produce. VID can also be earned by video storage miners, distribution miners, compute miners that provide CPU time, and relay miners that broadcast content to third party applications. Content creators can then stake their VID tokens on the VideoCoin network to increase their reputation on the network. The VideoCoin network tracks the overall reputation of each content creator to enable users to filter for low-cost, high-quality video production. The project combined blockchain with video creation and consumption to enhance the encoding and storage of videos as well as retrieval and distribution. Encoding and storage functions are sent to the VideoCoin platform with encoder configuration metrics like codec, bitrate, and output container formatting. Miners compete with one another to win the right to provide computing power and storage space to the VideoCoin Network. Retrieval and distribution jobs are sent to the network along with CDN configuration parameters like bandwidth and physical location. Much like encoding and storage, miners on the network compete with each other for the right to retrieve videos from storage and distribute them to users who want to view the video.
VideoCoin Technology
The VideoCoin team has developed impressive technology such as the VID digital asset as well as the VideoCoin Stream explorer. VideoCoin (VID) The VID token began trading on markets in August of 2019. There are roughly 110,000,000 VID tokens in the circulating supply with a market capitalization of $11,000,000 as of June of 2020. The VID token reached its all-time high price of $0.38 on September 10th, 2019. VideoCoin Stream Explorer VideoCoin’s Stream Explorer enables the public to see blockchain-related video data on the VideoCoin network in real-time. This application performs similarly to a blockchain block explorer that allows the public to view the full history of any blockchain in real-time.
How to mine VideoCoin?
There are four types of miners that participate in the mining process for the VideoCoin network. The first is called storage miners. Storage miners earn their VID tokens by proving the service of storing the videos that are broadcast to the VideoCoin network. Miners that can provide more storage for the rest of the network are eligible to earn more VID tokens. The second miner class is the distribution miners. This set of miners earn their VID tokens by providing the bandwidth that is required to distribute videos on the VideoCoin network to the end-consumer of the video. Similar to the storage miners, distribution miners can earn more VID tokens by providing more bandwidth. The third level of miners is the compute miners. This group earns VID tokens by providing CPU time. The final set of miners is the relay miners. The relay miners can earn VID tokens by relating storage from external cloud computing servers like Amazon Web Services (AWS). The relay miners can increase their earning by providing more storage from third party services.
Risks of VideoCoin Trading
Investment Risk VideoCoin (VID) is a volatile asset that can experience significant price changes in a short period of time. The volatility commonly seen with digital assets should be accounted for and filtered through your risk profile before buying or selling a digital asset like VideoCoin. Security Risk VideoCoin (VID) is a cryptographically secured digital currency. This creates some security caveats for those who own some VID tokens as the tokens themselves are more secure and have less chance of being stolen or improperly used. On the other hand, it is very rare to have a digital asset-backed by an insurance policy, This means that you have a smaller chance of losing your assets but in the event that they are lost, there is virtually no recourse at your disposal to get them back. Regulatory Risk Cryptocurrencies like VideoCoin (VID) carry regulatory risk that stems from a lack of legal guidance from governments around the world. Since global legislatures and regulators have not made a final decision about digital assets there is a possibility that the eventual rules can be harsh and negatively affect the value of tokens such as VID. These risks should be factored into your plan.
