Latency

In the field of Computing, Latency refers to the delay in time between input and the output received. In all levels of Computing, Latency is inherent in that there is IO latency across computer systems. There is also network latency found in the travel of data and information from a system to servers across the globe.

Cryptocurencies also have a share of latency that is divided in two. The first one refers to a time delay in the blockchain network, while the second is the time delay on an exchange. The former is the time between the submission of a transaction and the confirmation of its acceptance by the network. The latter, the exchange’s latency is a mean to assess its ability to process and execute large transactions within order books.
