Intermediary/Middleman

An Intermediary, also called a “Distribution Intermediary”, “Marketing Intermediary”, or simply, “Middleman” refers to a person or any other entity that performs the function of going between parties so as to mediate agreements or execute directives.

Intermediaries make it possible for a company or institution to deliver products to its customers without having to buy or own the entire supply chain. They are crucial to a company’s distribution channel in that their absence would result to total operation stagnation. This is the case as intermediaries are external groups, individuals, or businesses that make it possible for the institution to conveniently handle and make deliveries. One example of an intermediary is a merchant.
